Its not new... its been out on the AP newswire for a while... when news teams have a slow day, they can surf the wire and find any articles they want and put them up (and they look like breaking/new news.)  Its the same article thats been going 'round since mid March...

How about instead of cash, a shuttle trip from Birmingham or Columbus, GA to Flagg Mtn. Also Flagg needs to made into a State Park ala Amicalola Falls.

I don't know about making Flagg into a State PArk...it's always been a secluded, quiet place. I don't want a State Park to change that.

How does making Flagg a state park change that?  I go to Oak Mtn allt he time.  I cant recall seeing anyone on any trail for the last 6 months when I hike there...

That's pretty much the entire Pinhoti you've descirbed as secluded/ quiet. And making the PT part of the AT would end that. But if "they" want to be serious as a hiking destination there needs to be some infrastructure in place to handle the Spring thru hike crowds and weekend warriors.
