We never took a vote on this? Seems to be something we should do.

Wheres that?  Its always been ended in GA, even according to Benton MacKaye's original plan. The only change has been from Mt Oglethorpe to Springer Mtn.

Ok, somewhere I heard or read that it was supposed to run to originally run to Birmingham. Thanks for clearing that up.

Why would the ATC frown upon the extension? Or is it just a case of old men with egos?

It is something that continues to elude me. Why me, a simple 18 year old from Mobile can understand that ego is only an inhibiting force while people decades older then me let it stop them from working with others and making the trail possibly better than it already is.

Not just egos, there is also some $ and political power to be had here.

Chris I how to meet you someday. You seem wise for your age, but ego, politics, and money do play a roll in every aspect of life as you learn more about in your coming years. The fact is that jaybird is correct, with time and changes of power and money the hikers will decide what the real end is.

That is true that it plays a part in everything. But, it really takes the enjoyment out of this soemtimes. I feel that much more could be accomplished if we could forget the egos.

You are very correct the games are a real drag on the enjoyment factor. I may be typing out of turn, but I think that is the reason Jaybird is here. It is defiantly a reason I am hear. I got weary of the game before He and many others in the outdoor community (now) were around. I am refreshed to find people I can share knowledge with and learn from. In the words of Ryan and Golden I consider myself a veteran but not an expert. You will always find someone better or more knowledgeable than you are. You should always try to learn more and be the best you can be at everything you do.
