Introduction to River Canoeing is the essential course for most people paddling in the state of Alabama.  You will gain a firm foundation of the knowledge needed to negotiate and keep yourself safe on white water up to class II.  You will learn gear, safety and rescue, strokes, trip planning, river reading, river running, and much more, including navigation.
You must have your own gear and some prior experience to enroll in this course.  Please, be prepared to exert a lot of energy as this is a pretty tough course. It is not recommended for anyone in poor health.  Introduction to River Canoeing is always held in the Spring and Fall when the water temperature is cooler. Please, be weather aware and dress accordingly.
