So it's hotter than a rat stuck in a wool sock left on tumble dry. How do you deal on the trail?

Ordinarily I'd say move north, but seeing as it was 97 degrees here at the edge of the Catskills, that won't help!
I just don't cope. If the forecast is above 80, I hike in the morning, before it gets hot. Above 85, I stay home. It isn't worth feeling like crud, or worse, sweat-washing my camera.
Drink fluids?

Just turn the AC down a little bit lower and wish that fall were here so that I could go hiking. Don't think staying cool is a option until around Oct.

Acclimate. We stay outside as much as possible. Hiking at 90+ degrees isn't that bad when we are constantly playing and doing yard work outside. Also stay hydrated and don't be scared to dump water on your head frequently. DW was actually cold trying to sleep on our last BPing trip.

douse your head with water, take lots of breaks, drink lots more water, take lots of breaks, wear cool clothes, move slower...
they'll help, but they won't make it easy. Still need to be careful and listen to the body about when to stop and when to cool down.

Don't let your husband drink.... I mean carry, carry the water. Pack the Water filter, and wear black underwear so any swimming holes may be taken advantage of. Creek hike. Learn a Native American rain dance.... the usual

I just don't go. aside from the heat which is actually the least of my issues with hiking this time of year are the bugs, snakes, and over-running vegetation (read as poison oak).
