I am going back to Hurricane Creek this weekend. I am hoping to come back with more photos than ticks. Photos from the last trip are on my website

I concur, you are brave. I hope you get some good pictures.

It is back in the 80s here, which is as hot as it should EVER get anywhere. I'm still waiting on some bloom confirmation for the Showy Ladyslippers I'm planning to go see in Vermont, but I may just go Monday, because it is between the two big fieldtrip weekends for them every year, so it must be about right.

Photos are great!  You're a lot better than me braving this heat to go take pics.  It's just about to kill me to step outside anytime other than morning and late evening.  I need some cool mountain air about now.........
Thank you. its not that I am brave but if I sit inside four walls for another weekend I am going to go crazy. I am used to the heat I work in a plant in front of a 300 or so degree  gel oven so over all it feels like its about 110 even with the ac vent blowing wide open. I would love to get back to the mountains, but it will late sept before I get to go home to Virginia

Very good Pics CW. Thank you for sharing. I guess I'm going to have to go to Sipsey to have the tick experience. As of yet, I have never had a tick encounter. From what I've read in posts on Alatrails I am a rarity. Wonder why they don't like me..........

Awesome Pics C.W. Are you using a ND filter, polarizer, and/or stopping down on your waterfall shots?
Thanks for sharing!

Rob Thanks I was using a #6 ND filter along with a Circular Graduated ND filter the camera was set at an ISO of 100 and the F stops ranged from F22 to F25 the shutter speed was any were from 30sec to 13 sec depending on the lighting I used the flash for fill light on some of them.

very nice! You take some very awesome photos. For some reason, the waterfalls just seem to be a nemesis of mine, but I'm trying...

Lostsheep,

Why don't you post a photo that you've made in a new thread, along with all the camera settings and equipment you used, so that we can offer you some advice?

You can get all the camera setting information (provided you are using a digital camera and are using a PC) by right-clicking on the file, selecting properties, then summary, and then advanced. This "EXIF" data should be able to tell you all the relevant information about what settings were used on the camera, like shutter speed, f/stop, ISO, etc...

Even if you are using a digital P&S camera you *might* be able to significantly improve your waterfall photography with a little help, depending on the camera model.

CW,

I like the third image in your gallery, because you are the ONLY person I've seen so far who managed to successfully integrate that DARNED LOG into a shot without ruining it. Good work!

Josh, thanks. I will agree that log is a royal pain. I don't think I would have thought to shoot from that spot if I didn't have to work around the two families playing in the water.

Yea Josh, I'm using the Sony A100 and have the EXIF data. I'll try to post some this afternoon and maybe get some help. It does get frustrating.

I think much of my problem comes from having blowouts in the skys due to the long exposure. I set for aperature and let the camera choose the time, but it always seems to be too long and parts get way blown out.  But I'll post some shortly.
