We had one of those push-slice rotary mowers when I was really little. It worked okay for a VERY small yard when we lived in Jersey City, but it would be pushing it to mow more than a thousand square feet or so of grass with one, imo.

I've seen an electric mower used before, and it seemed similar to the electric chainsaws/weed-whackers/trimmers I've seen/used. It worked, but not as well as the real thing, and the cord is kinda a pain.

I have a reel mower. I learned real quick like that it won't chop up pinecones and sticks. Those need to be removed first. And obviously, the sharper the blade, the better the cut.

I also used an electric mower a few times. The downfall was that I got tired of running over the cord and taking my chances...

But $4/gal for 2-3 cuts is getting a little high!
