These days I shoot RAW almost entirely. The only time I'd consider shooting in JPG would be while doing really fast action work, like at an Airshow, where the number of shots taken is (unfortunately) directly proportionate to the number of good shots. Basically, I'd use it if I needed to spray-shoot, because I was relying on the AF exclusively.

Hmmm...I need a RAW + JPEG option. I just bit the bullet, bought an 8Gig card and shoot them both at once. If I've got mulitple photos that I know I don't need the RAW format, I go through and delete or archive those first, but that way if I need to pull or download some photos QUICK I've always got the JPEG waiting.
Sorry to dig up an OLD post

Usually RAW. I shoot a Nikon D80 so the RAW format is called NEF, but it is RAW.
I approach it like this. Almost always I am trying to make a pretty picture. I can do more with RAW.
On some rare occassions I want to document something - not make a pretty picture- like "here is what the part looks like" or "turn at this sign" or "this is how big the eagle was after 5 weeks". In those occassions I will shoot in JPEG.
