Until my daughter gets out of school, I can barely afford film. Sometimes I just look through the viewfinder and pretend! One of these days I will ask for suggestions about telephoto lenses. I've already decided on a Nikon
D-40.

Jed,

What type of film do you use, and how do you get it developed? Also, do you own a scanner than can do film? We might be able to help you make film a little more affordable. Regardless of whether you shoot slide or print film, there are probably cheaper ways to get it and to get it developed.

Thank you Joshua. I was a bit flipant with my rare post. I do use a old Advantix camera but my wife received a Nikon
D-40 for Christmas  and as soon as the newness wears off I believe she will trust me with it! By the way, I received
a Clark NA Jungle Hammock (I doubt she will want to use it). We both want a telephoto lens but are unsure of what and how to find the right lens for our needs. We are both avid bird lovers and would enjoy being able to capture them afar. And as far as my daughter is concerned, she will be out of school by this time next year and a great expense will be lifted. We are extremely proud but for now living somewhat conservatively.
I do enjoy the posted pictures on this forum contributed by its members. Please keep them coming!

Ah... Advantix. APS, right? Good luck with that! APS film is getting expensive.
