What is the status of the GA Pinhoti Trail? The last I heard, which was a long time ago, that part of the trail really hadn't taken shape yet and there is still a lot of road walking. Does anyone know? Thanks!

GA Pinhoti still has miles and miles of road walks.  MrParkay has some GPS maps posted on White Blaze and he's working on some better detailed topo's for the Pinhoti.

I hope to hike the northern part of GA Pinhoti this Fall to the BMT... then on down to Springer.

Only part of GA Pinhoti I've been on was around Potatoepatch Mtn, that was a few months ago while hiking another trail up that way.

The Pinhoti Trail Guide sold for almost nothing by Pinhotitrailalli ance.org includes details about both the Alabama and Georgia Pinhoti.  The guide will tell you where you will be walkin on a road.

Hi woody,

I've got the Trail Guide book Mtn Dog was talking about, and I would like to finish the northernmost section in AL north of CR55 Pink E Burns Trailhead into Ga, myself.  Have not been on any of the GA part but let me know when you plan to go and maybe I can join you for a few days to a week if the job allows.

I skipped the blown down part of the trail  alongside AL 281 when I hiked that section over 4th of July. Got dropped off south of the interstate overpass where the trail resumes going south, west of 281.

Sounds good Ednotmilkman. Right now I have two time in mind. I am either going the next to last week of Oct or the second week in Dec. I will send you a PM when it is set.

The GA Pinhoti is fully blazed, including the road walks, of which there are only 2.  The 2 however are some considerable distance (about 20 miles each).

The rest is woods trail.
