I went on a little "look see" expedition to the bankhead area Tuesday 08/05. Visited the Clear creek Rec. area. Lots of day use stuff and camping in developed sites. Great for water activities.

Borden Creek was nothing more than stagnant pools of water ( at least close to the trail head by the funky bridge ). The trail had a lot of high weed growth along it's edges. Luna Moths were very abundant on the undersides of the shrub leaves. I actually got my first Alabama Tick on this trail. I also noticed horse shoe prints on the trail in the dried mud, must have been skinny horses to traverse this trail.

Sipsey 209 was as stated in trail info news. Wasn't worth the effort to try to get too far on this trail.

As you can imagine, it was sweltering and extremely humid, but hey, what else could one expect from mother nature in August. I'll post a couple of new pics in my gallery.  Rob

Rob,

The trails ALONG the creek are much better.

I stopped at the gate at Clear Creek when I realized I'd have to pay twice in one day to use facilities in the same National Forest, as I had already paid the modest Sipsey rec area fee. I'm glad you posted about it.
