At what price discount would you consider using women's gear, esp. if it didn't look girly?

Been looking for a lightweight 20 deg sleeping bag and the women's are normally at a bigger discount than the Mens. And even if the SB was a girly pink, I probably wouldn't care because I'll be asleep, right?

FD, I wouldn't be as concerned about the color as much as the Cut or size. As you probably already know, womens gear is usually cut os sized different from men's............. Other than that I'd leave it up to the DW to decide weather or not you look perty in that there pink sleepin' bag! Just make sure you get enough of a discount to get  them there slippers that match and you'll be o.k. I'm sure...........  Wink Specially at the slumber party.

I'd be less concerned about it if I could get in it and make sure it fits ok.  As stated above, womens sleeping bags are usually cut differently and more slender.  If my 15 degree bag was any tighter I'd be miserable!

However if you can get in it and try it out, and it's all good............ ...Just make sure you put it in a "manly" stuff sack Smiley

The womens specific bags are actually cut more generously than the same bag in mens.  Wider at the hips (go figure) but the 'regular' length will sometimes be shorter than a mans 'regular.'

Interesting Wink

Bags & Pads are typically shorter, more narrow in the shoulders, have more room in the hip area as well as more insulation in the hip area and foot box as those are the parts that become ice when temps drop.

Packs have a bit less capacity, and the shoulder straps are shaped very differently as to accommodate natures blessings. The straps may rub up in your armpit, that could be real bad if you don't shave your pits.  Also the torso length:belt girth ratio might not work for dudes.

Clothing If you are man enough to try on the clothes and are ok with how they feel....then I want pictures!

Well here's your chance for a $60 30 deg down bag. The one on special only fits up to 5'5" though and DW can't justify the expense to herself.

Leslie,

I am a guy, just not quite a "girlie girlie guy",

They were on sale; that, and, I enjoy "the looks" sometimes.  I get enough of "the look" wearing ordinary black spandex inside convenience stores anyway. Sometimes the teenage girls can't keep from laughing behind my back, then I get to turn around and make whatever appropriate comment comes to mind.

My GF took the purple ones away from me before I ever wore them in public, and an earlier GF actually took the floweredy ones as a "slightly used" gift. I used to think I could get girls to ride with me so I'd buy something for them to wear and keep it, just in case. I still have a size S  pair of padded women's bike underwear still in the wrapper that was saved for my GF's daughter, but she's turned into a full-blown teenager with no desire for sweaty fun now.
