MountainSmith Circuit 3.0

Anyone here with info on this backpack from MountainSmith?  I have both a lumbar pack and day pack from MountainSmith that I use often and have been impressed with.  I'm thinking about this pack for longer backpacking trips, etc.

5.5 lbs seems like alot (about the same as my bombproof CampTrails pack). How much weight are you carrying typically?

That's hard to say... I'm not an ultralight, although I try not to add excess weight if I can help it.  I noticed the 5.5 pounds as well.  The last over-nighter I packed 40-50 pounds - was carrying water and some of the "group" weight.  My intention would be to only use this pack on backcountry camping (more than 1 night out) as my MountainSmith daypack is very well suited for one night out backpacks.

An alternative at 1.5 lbs and similar price might be the GoLite Pinnacle. It is smaller at 4500 cubes though. But I doubt it would take 50 lbs as well as the Circuit.

Were you looking at the Circuit locally or online?

Yeah I can vouch for the Pinnacle. It won't handle much over 30 lbs though.
Larry, are you taking the Pulpit with you out there? 50 lbs makes me cringe.

Thanks for your comments.

FD,
I was looking at the Circuit 3.0 on-line (direct from MountainSmith).  I will look up the GoLite for comparison.  It may be a better solution.

Matt,
I sort of felt like I did last time!  Was carrying lots of "stuff" for the group that I would not normally pack.  I certainly agree 40-50# is heavy!

I have a gregory z55 that I would trust up to 40 lbs but I would hate to actually carry it.
